Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs Rovshan Rzayev met with a group of Azerbaijanis who were internally displaced from Khankendi thirty-two years ago.
At the meeting, it was noted with great satisfaction and pride that as a result of determined military-political and diplomatic efforts of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, lands of Karabakh and East Zangazur were liberated from Armenian occupation in the 44-day Patriotic War three years ago, and the Armenian formations and the bogus organization remaining in those areas were completely abolished on September 19-20 this year due to the anti-terrorist measures implemented in a short period of time. At present, the region is undergoing a process of confiscation of weapons belonging to the Armed Forces of Armenia and terrorist groups, and conditions are being created for the voluntary and safe departure of Armenians who do not want to accept Azerbaijani citizenship from our country.
It was noted that in the new situation, the Great Return will soon cover the internally displaced Azerbaijani population of Khankendi. It was noted that Khankendi people, like all our compatriots who faced forced displacement, were always under the protection of our state. In accordance with the political line established by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev has always paid great attention and care to this category of citizens. IDPs have always felt the sensitive attitude of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and benefited from her support and assistance. Today, purposeful work is being carried out in the direction of revival, restoration and reconstruction of the liberated territories, rapid implementation of measures on the Great Return program, and IDPs are returning to their native land in stages. The day when the IDPs from Khankendi will join this process is not far off.
The Chairman of the State Committee informed the participants of the meeting about the measures taken to prepare IDPs for their return, the progress and rules of relocation to the reconstructed and restored settlements in the liberated territories, spoke about the upcoming tasks related to the organization of the return of the Azerbaijani population to Khankendi, conveyed the instructions of the head of our state related to this to them.
The participants of the meeting expressed gratitude to the head of our state and members of our valiant armed forces for the restoration of the state sovereignty of Azerbaijan in all the liberated territories, wished God's mercy to our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the righteous cause of our people, and healing to our veterans.
Representatives of IDP communities from Khankendi, intellectuals, social activists, as well as members of the Public Council under the State Committee attended the meeting and voiced their opinions and proposals on the issues of preparation for the return.
