The State Committee for Refugees and IDPs holds a futsal tournament among internally displaced youth for the first time. 9 teams containing residents of the settlements built for IDPs in Baku will compete in the tournament organized with the support of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the tournament is to promote the healthy lifestyle among internally displaced youth and ensure the popularity of sport.
On the eve of the Youth Day in Azerbaijan - the 1st of February, the opening ceremony of the tournament was held at the indoor futsal court of Baku Olympic Stadium.
It is stated that the futsal tournament “Esgere salam” (Hello to soldier) held for the first time among internally displaced youth will be traditional and will cover regions as well in the future. The teams participating in the tournament will play under the names symbolizing our homelands like "Karabakh", "Hakari", "Ergunesh", "Shusha", "Jabrayil", "Fuzuli", "Chinar", "Imarat" and "Garant".
Matches will be held on Saturdays and Sundays and completed within two weeks. The winning teams will be awarded trophies and prizes.
