On August 26, the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized a concert “One Day in Karabakh” dedicated to the International Azerbaijani Mugham Day in Shamakhi. International Mugham Center, Khojali, Khojavand, Shusha, Lachin, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Zangilan, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Gubadli and Shamakhi regions executive powers supported the concert organized for IDPs outside in greenery, near the village of Avakhil.
Karabakh and Shirvan schools of mugham singing play an important role in the history of Azerbaijani culture. Graduates of both schools have made significant contributions to the development of our national culture, and this mission is being continued by a generation of young performers. The purpose of the concert, organized in Shirvan, which is morally very close to Karabakh with its natural beauties and love for mugham, was to show the support of IDPs to the cultural and moral values of our people, their protection and enrichment.
Ethno-elements, which reflect national customs and traditions and, in particular, true rural life, were used in the area where the concert was organized. Carts, bee boxes, honeycombs, pottery made with special taste, pitchers, ancient samovars, tandoors, springs, water wells, etc. were shown in the area. The shepherd feeding sheep and lambs, and making of haystacks are real demonstration of rural life.
It was noted during the concert that governmental measures, foundation of which was laid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev in addressing the social problems of refugees and IDPs and improving their housing and living conditions are still being continued even on a larger scale. Armenia, pursuing a policy of occupation for 30 years is trying to lay claim to our intangible cultural heritage, along with destroying the cultural monuments created by our people in Karabakh.
It was noted once again that the territorial integrity of our country will soon be restored as a result of the courageous and decisive policy pursued by the President Ilham Aliyev. At present, large-scale measures are being taken to address the social problems of IDPs, 104 settlements have been built for them by now at the initiative and under the guidance of the head of our state. These projects will also continue in the territories that will be liberated.
August 26 is celebrated for a few years as the International Mugham Day and the Day of Music of the countries located on the Silk Road. It is an expression of human value given to mugham, which is the national wealth of our people, masterpiece of the world culture. The fame of the Azerbaijani mugham has already spread worldwide. The First Vice President, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva has exceptional services in preservation and further enrichment of this cultural and moral wealth that has come to us from the depths of history, and creation of every possible condition for development of mugham art. At the initiative of Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, the Azerbaijani mugham was added to UNESCO`s list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, and thus, wide opportunities were made for its promotion worldwide. Conveying the issue of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Karabakh truths to the world is the most important activity of the Fundation.
The event participants expressed confidence that mughams, which are of the cultural and moral values of our people, will spread throughout the world from our lands to be liberated from occupation one day.
At the concert, our mughams were presented to large audience being performed by the ensemble and soloists of the International Mugham Center.
