Delegation led by Alexandra Bilak, Director of Internal Displacement Monitoring Center, who is currently in Azerbaijan, met with IDPs temporarily settled in the dormitory of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction at Yasamal district of Baku, and familiarized with their living conditions.
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Fuad Huseynov informed the delegation about the state of our compatriots who were displaced from their homeland as a result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It was noted that most of them had to settle in different buildings and structures in the capital and regions and live in severe conditions. Addressing the problems of individuals from this category is one of the priorities of the state`s social policy. The President Ilham Aliyev takes purposeful measures to improve their housing and living conditions and material wellbeing, increase employment opportunities. The First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva has important services in accelerating work related to IDPs and she keeps this issue under control.
The guests then visited the room of IDP Khatira Adigozalova from Fuzuli and talked with family members. Khatira khanum spoke about how they were forced to leave their homeland, deprivations they experienced in the early years of displacement and the state care shown to them.
Later, the delegation visited the settlement built for IDPs in Masazir settlement of Absheron district. Head of Zangilan Region Executive Power Ramiz Hasanov informed the guests about the condition of the settlement and current state of the IDPs from Zangilan.
The guests got acquainted with the conditions created in the settlement, talked to the residents, and also visited Zangilan Region History and Ethnography Museum, secondary school № 33 and kindergarten.
