As all fields of social sphere, development of sports is also one of the priorities of state policy in Azerbaijan. Today Azerbaijan is not only the participant of international sports competitions, but also the organizer. Head of the National Olympic Committee, President Ilham Aliyev, makes a significant contribution to the development of sports and Olympic movement, and sports complexes were built in many regions of the country. The First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva also cares about the development of sports, as science and health. It was informed on February 21, at the opening ceremony of the sports club at “Gobu Park” residential complex built for IDPs in Garadagh district at the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, by the instruction of the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva. Fuad Huseynov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, member of Milli Mejlis, President of Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation Adil Aliyev, famous athletes and media representatives attended the ceremony. MP Adil Aliyev stated in his speech that successful sports policy in our country is aimed at harmonious, comprehensive development of the young generation, strengthening of health, preparation for labor and protection of the country, and efficient organization of their leisure time. The opening of a sports club in the settlement where IDPs live complies with the requirements of state policy and will play an important role in the physical and spiritual upbringing of children and adolescents growing up herein. In his speech, Fuad Huseynov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee noted that the instructions of the head of state on improvement of the work with IDPs, improvement of their living conditions and ensuring their employment are being implemented, and the infrastructure in newly built settlements are expanded according to the interest and demand of the residents and wished success to the newly established club in its activity. The head of the club called "Agh Janavar" (White Wolf) is Asaf Guliyev, a resident of “Gobu Park”, a refugee from Fuzuli. His 13-year-old son Amil has been the country, continent and world champion on kickboxing many times. Divisions on other combat sport types, as well as judo will also operate, along with kickboxing in the sports club supplied with all the necessary equipment and training conditions. 8 trainers and teachers will work there for present. 30 people can simultaneously train in the club. More than 50 adolescents and young people have already applied to enroll the divisions. Asaf Guliyev expressed gratitude to the President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva for the attention and care shown to IDPs for improving their housing and living conditions and ensuring their employment. It should be noted that Guliyevs family was relocated to a three-room apartment at “Gobu Park” residential complex in summer of the last year from the useless dormitory located at “Narimanov district, Z.Bunyadov Avenue, 30”.
