The State Committee held an event dedicated to Gubadli`s occupation
Tədbirlər 29 August, 2018

On 29 August, the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs held a commemoration event on the 25th anniversary of Gubadli`s occupation. The Chairman, Deputy Chairmen, heads of departments and divisions of the State Committee, members of “Karabakh War Disabled, Veterans and Families of Martyrs” public union, intelligentsia from Gubadli region attended the event. Our martyrs who sacrificed lives for the freedom and territorial integrity of our lands were commemorated with a minute of silence. The Chairman of the State Committee Rovshan Rzayev said that the chaos and anarchy in the country, deceleration in the army building as a result of serious and unforgivable mistakes made by political authorities in the early years of Azerbaijan`s independence led to the occupation of Gubadli and other territories. On August 31, 1993, military units of the aggressive Armenia occupied Gubadli region. The occupiers also destroyed and robbed the settlements therein, killed innocent civilians with particular brutality. Unfortunately, the world community still does not take effective measures to prevent Armenia`s aggressive actions and end the policy of occupation. Four resolutions of the UN Security Council and numerous decisions of other influential international organizations on the unconditional liberation of Azerbaijani territories from the occupation are not implemented, they remain only on the paper. It was noted that the President Ilham Aliyev pursues a purposeful and resolute policy for the restoration of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and liberation of our lands from the occupation of Armenia soon. And it is the result of this determination that a part of our lands was liberated from the occupation in April 2016, and after many years, natives of Jojug Marjanli village of Jabrayil region finally were able to start living there again. Our people believe that Azerbaijan will restore its territorial integrity, and our internally displaced compatriots will return to their homeland under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev, worthy successor of the political direction of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Currently, more than 35 thousand residents of Gubadli region live as IDPs in 42 regions of the country. The solution of the problem of IDPs and improvement of their housing and living conditions are of the priorities of the social policy pursued by the President Ilham Aliyev. The First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva treats the problems of our citizens from this category in a very sensitive way, always attaches great attention to them. Renovation and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated Jojug Marjanli village of Jabrayil region further strengthen the hope of IDPs to return to their homeland. Tayyar Eminov, the head of Gubadli Region Department of “Karabakh War Disabled, Veterans and Families of Martyrs” public union, spoke about the battles, and heroism shown for Gubadli. He said that former warriors are always ready to fight for the freedom of our lands by the order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Sevinj Alizada, the wife of the martyr lieutenant-colonel, legendary scout Raguf Orujov, who was one of the heroes of the April war, said that she suffered a lot being apart from her homeland. “We should always carry yearning for our occupied territories in our hearts, minds and souls. We all need to be together to make the road to Jojug Marjanli continue. May God grant us new victories. Each and every home needs a person like Raguf, a Panjali. We should have no other claim than the Land and Motherland. What makes Raguf and his fellow soldiers immortal is their love for Motherland”, said Sevinj khanum. The participants expressed great confidence that Gubadli and other occupied territories will be liberated soon and our IDPs will return to their native lands again. At the end, the film “The road leads ... to Gubadli” was shown.
