A delegation consisting of assistants to members of the U.S. Congress, who are on a visit to our country, met at the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Fuad Huseynov, provided the guests with detailed information about the state policy in the field of working with refugees and internally displaced persons, the problems faced by these individuals and the measures taken to address them, the situation that has arisen following the liberation of our lands from Armenian occupation, and the ongoing Great Return process.
It was noted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, refugees and internally displaced persons have been surrounded by comprehensive state care. First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva constantly keeps their social, educational, healthcare, and cultural issues in focus and approaches each appeal with special sensitivity.
It was emphasized that the vast majority of internally displaced persons want to return to their native lands, settle there permanently, work, and contribute to the revitalization of those areas. The initial results of the Great Return instill confidence that life will soon revive in Eastern Zangazur and Karabakh.
The guests were invited to listen to the displacement stories of a group of internally displaced persons with interest and engaged in conversations with them. The internally displaced persons expressed their desire to live in peace and security, their satisfaction with the reconstruction work carried out by the Azerbaijani government in the liberated territories, and their eagerness for the day they can move back to their native lands. They asked the American guests to convey their thoughts and feelings to the U.S. congressmen.
The delegation from the U.S. thanked the committee leadership for organizing the sincere and interesting meeting.
