On October 16, Rovshan Rzayev, Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, met with Christian Vallar, professor at the French University of Cote d'Azur, honorary director of the Center for Research and Studies in Administrative, Constitutional, Financial and Fiscal Law (CERDACFF).
The guest was provided with detailed information on the historical causes of the problem of refugees and forced displacement in our country, government policy to solve it, and the activities of the committee.
It was noted that solving the problems of refugees and internally displaced persons has always been one of the priorities of the social policy of our state. As a result of the attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev, purposeful measures have been taken to strengthen their social protection and improve their welfare during the last twenty years. First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva also assists in resolving issues affecting citizens of this category.
At present, Azerbaijan has fully restored its sovereignty in the territories liberated from occupation, and there is a real opportunity for hundreds of thousands of internally displaced persons to return to their homeland. From this point of view, the corresponding State program has been adopted, its Action Plan has been approved and is being successfully implemented. The Great Return has begun and will take on even greater proportions in the coming years.
The guest was also briefed on the activities laid out in the State Committee relating to the implementation of the Great Return and its progress. The importance of working with international organizations in preparing refugees for return was noted.
The Chairman of the State Committee answered numerous questions from the French researcher and commented on the findings of surveys conducted among our compatriots who will return to their homeland.
Professor Christian Vallar expressed his appreciation for the warm greetings and said that he would use the information provided to him in his research.
The meeting was also attended by Mirvari Fataliyeva, President of the Paris House of Azerbaijan, Secretary General of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France.
