In accordance with the memorandum signed between The State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs and the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan, an action of free legal aid dedicated to the professional holiday of lawyers in Azerbaijan was organized in a residential complex built for internally displaced persons in the village of Masazir in the Absheron region on December 28.
At the meeting with internally displaced persons, it was once again reminded that President Ilham Aliyev took the necessary measures to strengthen the social protection of citizens of this category, and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva paid special attention to solving their problems.
Acting Head of the Law and Human Resources Department of the State Committee Mirhuseyin Huseynov, Deputy Head of the Khirdalan City Attorney’s Office Toghrul Valiyev spoke at the event and expressed their views on the protection of the rights and interests of internally displaced persons in our country by the state, ensuring their social protection, preparing for the Great Return, and resolving legal issues that arise at this time.
It is noted that, legal reforms are currently being carried out in our country at the initiative and under the leadership of the head of our state, these reforms create conditions for ensuring a high level of human and civil rights and freedoms, transparency in the judicial and legal system is further expanding, there is a serious change in the quality of legal services provided to citizens with the use of modern information and communication technologies.
It was stated that the protection of the rights of refugees and internally displaced persons and ensuring their legitimate interests is an important element of the policy of our state in working with persons from this category. According to the memorandum of cooperation signed between the State Committee and the Bar Association, members of this institution promote legal education and free legal assistance to internally displaced persons.
IDPs who took part in the event were given detailed information about the rules for considering citizens’ applications, pensions, benefits for migrants, and business issues.
Then individual appeals of IDPs were heard, their questions were answered, and about 40 IDPs in need of legal assistance were provided with free legal assistance, their appeals were heard, and they were informed that their requests would be addressed to the relevant institutions.
It should be noted that free legal assistance to internally displaced persons will be organized in other regions of our republic.
