On June 1, at the initiative and organization of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, and with the support of Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), awareness-raising trainings on mine safety were started in Guzanli settlement of Aghdam region.
As it was held on the International Children’s Day, first of all, IDP schoolchildren were involved in the trainings. Highly qualified trainers of the ARCS and the ICRC explained to them the importance of mine protection, avoidance of risks through simulation games, and taught them the methods and rules of safe behavior in specific situations. Pupils who successfully completed the trainings were presented gifts made by IDPs working at “Khari Bulbul” art center located in Gobu park residential complex.
Mine protection trainings will continue on June 2 in Tartar and on June 3 in Fuzuli. Selected population groups of different ages and professions will be involved in the trainings. Participants of each training to be consisting of three sessions will be educated about the risks and safe behaviors, will be informed about different types of mines, explosive remnants of war and improvised explosive devices, and will be taught how to be protected from mines and explosive remnants of war.
