The first stage of the Internally Displaced Youth Support Program, a subcomponent of the Project for Support to Living Conditions and Income Opportunities of IDPs implemented by co-financing of the Azerbaijani Government and the World Bank (Extra financing), was completed.
The next event within this stage was held on December 10 in Mingachevir. The State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, the World Bank, other relevant authorities and journalists attended the event.
The event participants were informed that the head of state identified addressing the IDP problems as one of the priority directions of social policy. Housing and living conditions of IDPs are being improved, as well as consistent measures are being taken to increase their employment pursuant to the State Program signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
The First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva also treats the problems of internally displaced youth, such as education and employment in a sensitive way.
Involvement of 2500 internally displaced young people temporarily settled in various regions of the republic to vocational training, gaining knowledge in selected areas, getting experience, obtaining certificates at the end of trainings and providing all equipment necessary for profession receiving training were planned within the program.
According to the terms of the project, the program is implemented in 3 stages. In the first stage, 833 of the displaced young people received 6 months of vocational and 3 months of computer trainings. Young people who successfully completed the trainings were additionally involved in 15 days of Business Management training.
Internally displaced youth attended vocational trainings on more than 40 professions such as accountant, tailor, locksmith, carpenter, hairdresser, plastic door and window maker, designer, furniture maker, carpet-waver, video operator, photographer, confectioner, painter, welder, gas operator, computer operator.
Starting November 19, the young people who have successfully completed their vocational trainings and passed business training exams and whose business plans have been approved by the Project Executive Committee, have been provided with appropriate tools and equipment to start their own businesses relevant to the area chosen by them.
A group of young people were given the tools and equipment relevant to the professions chosen by them at the event held in Mingachevir.
It should be reminded that the finale of the first stage of the Internally Displaced Youth Support Program began on November 29. The same day, internally displaced young people were provided with equipment to start their own businesses in Ganja.
