On June 14, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Rovshan Rzayev met with newly appointed Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Azerbaijan Alessandro Fracassetti.

Firstly, the Chairman of the State Committee congratulated Alessandro Fracassetti on his appointment.

The guest was informed about the goals and results of the state policy on refugees and internally displaced persons in our country and recent measures. It was noted that President Ilham Aliyev has made important decisions on strengthening social protection of persons from this category and improving the living conditions. Number of the settlements built for them is increasing year after year, and thousands of IDP families move to their new home each year. First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva keeps solving problems of IDPs problems in the focus of attention.

Alessandro Fracassetti thanked for warm welcome and congratulations. Stressing UNDP’s great importance in the projects for refugees and internally displaced persons in its activities in Azerbaijan, the guest said that would spare no effort to expand cooperation in this area.

The sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
