Tree-planting campaign in honor of the military personnel, who were martyred in the battles of the Talysh altitude during April battles in 2016 in the Shikharkh settlement, which was an administrative territory of Nagorno Karabakh previously, was held with the initiative and organization of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, and the support of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Tartar Region Executive Authority. Tree seedings were planted in the form of a moon-star in the land area allocated for this purpose.

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Sabir Ahmadov, Head of Tartar Region Executive Power Mustagim Mammadov, veteran of Garabagh war, National Hero of Azerbaijan Movsum Mammadov, commander of the former Tartar self-defense battalion Panah Mammadov and martyrs’ families spoke at the event and stated that the memory of our brave military personnel who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of our lands is dear for our people, our state pays great respect for our martyrs and care and attention to their families.

It was noted that three years ago, under the leadership of the respected President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army had struck a heavy, crushing blow to the occupying forces. An important step was taken to liberate our lands, to restore the territorial integrity of our country. President Ilham Aliyev considered the April battles as a glorious military victory showing the power of our state, our people and our army.

Members of the martyrs’ families who attended the event planted tree seedings in the area together with the representatives of state agencies and military personnel. A plaque depicting the picture and biographical information of a martyr was placed in front of every seeding on which Azerbaijani flag was fixed.

Then the event participants attended the commemorative feast meeting, which was provided as a sign of respect to our martyrs at the club-community centre in the settlement constructed for internally displaced persons in Shikharkh settlement.

Tree-planting campaign for the same purpose took place in the territory of Jojug Marjanli village of Jabrayil region. Family members, comrades of the martyrs who died heroically during successful counter-attack operations of our army in the direction of Lalatapa altitude, young soldiers doing military service in those areas and residents of Jojug Marjanli village participated in the campaign, which held with the support of the above-mentioned state bodies and Jabrayil Region Executive Power. A plank tree was planted at the entrance of the village, along the road in the name of each of the 22 martyrs killed in the battles for Lalatapa, a special information plaque was placed beaside them and Azerbaijani flag was fixed on them.
