The Chairman of the Committee recalled with pleasure the meeting with the delegation of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in May this year and thanked the guests for accepting his invitation and coming to Baku. The measures taken by the state to eliminate the consequences of the humanitarian disaster as a result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, address the social problems of over 1 million refugees and IDPs who were displaced from their homeland were discussed in detail at the meeting. It was noted that this issue is one of the priorities in the social policy of the President Ilham Aliyev. Provision of the IDPs still living under severe conditions with new apartments in the first place is under particular control of the First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva and residential complexes are being built for this purpose. At the same time, the importance of putting an end to the aggression policy of Armenia for refugees and IDPs to return to their homeland was underlined, and it was mentioned that nonfulfillment of the four UN Security Council resolutions and decisions adopted by other international organizations related with this issue creates serious concern. Speaking about the readiness of the Azerbaijani government for restoration and construction work in the territories to be liberated from the occupation, the Chairman of the Committee said that peaceful life was restored in Jojug Marjanli village of Jabrayil as a result of the counter-attack operations carried out by our army in April 2016 and that all the conditions were created for the return of local residents, they were accommodated in the houses built in the village, and measures were taken to address employment issues. It was underlined that it is important to constantly inform the international community about Armenia`s territorial claims and policy of occupation and defend the fair position of Azerbaijan. In this regard, the activity of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France is also very important. It was noted that as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group and one of the main EU member states, we have a great hope for France to be an active participant in the fair settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the norms and principles of international law. The President of the Association Jean-Francois Mansel said that they will meet IDPs in Baku and Jojug Marjanli and publicize the truth about their fate in France. He noted that is it unacceptable the world community to be indifferent to the fate of the conflict victims.
