On November 7, Rovshan Rzayev, the Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs met with Michael Kindsgrab, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Azerbaijan. Sincerely welcoming the guests, the Chairman of the State Committee noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and Germany are developing, and Federal Chancellor Mrs. Angela Merkel`s visit to Azerbaijan in August of this year was of historic significance and gave new impetus to bilateral relations. German diplomats were informed that 1 million 200 thousand Azerbaijani became refugees and IDPs as a result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and detailed information was given to them about the consequences of the humanitarian catastrophe and the measures taken by our state and government to eliminate them. It was noted that purposeful and consistent work is being carried out to address the social problems of IDPs and improve their housing and living conditions. New residential complexes are being built and IDPs are provided with decent living conditions within the framework of the State Program implemented at the initiative and under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev. Implementation of the instructions given by the First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva regarding the relocation of IDPs still living under severe conditions to new apartments in the first place is underway. During the meeting views were exchanged on the project launched by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) regarding IDPs in our country, as well as opportunities for expanding employment of our citizens of this category.
