On September 14, the closing ceremony of the ICT Intensive Training Camp for internally displaced children from Jabrayil region and awarding ceremony of the winners of the coding contest was held in Bilasuvar region. Fuad Huseynov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons and employees of the Committee attended the event. Fuad Huseynov said that as a result of Armenia`s aggression and policy of occupation, more than one million of our compatriots had to abandon their homeland and survive the severe conditions of an internally displaced persons life. Only after the return of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to power with the desire and request of people, IDPs were covered with the state care. Our state has always been focused on the solution of their social problems. Improving the living conditions of internally displaced persons and increasing their material wellbeing are of the priorities of the President Ilham Aliyev`s social policy. The First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva keeps the implementation of projects related to internally displaced persons under control. In the early years of displacement, citizens of this category faced financial difficulties. Humanitarian aid was provided by international organizations. Such aids are still being continued today, and implementation of a number of projects in the areas where internally displaced persons live is supported. Head of Jabrayil Region Executive Power Kamal Hasanov underlined the high-level state care for the development of education in our country, emphasized that the President Ilham Aliyev attaches great attention to the issue of necessity for pupils to acquire modern knowledge on ICT, highly appreciated the initiative of the youth promoting education and thanked them. He noted that the establishment of an ICT Intensive Education Camp for internally displaced children which was the first project of “Code for Future” initiative is praiseworthy. At a time when technology develops, the knowledge gained by a group of pupils from Jabrayil on ICT and programming will be of great value for their future education and business activities. Co-founder of “Code for future” initiative Khalisa Shahverdiyeva and head of public relations department of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan Michel Petersen made speech at the event. Later, awarding ceremony of the winners was held. It should be noted that the ICT Intensive Training Camp for internally displaced children which was the first project of “Code for future” initiative made as a result of the efforts of a group of Azerbaijani youth promoting education was launched in July of this year. In the project, where students from VII-IX grades in 11 settlements of Bilasuvar region participated, the pupils learned the basics of programming and became familiar with programming languages like Scratch, HTML and Paython. “Code for Future” program is supported by the US Embassy in Azerbaijan to promote the development and inclusive progress of local communities.
