On June 11, Rovshan Rzayev, the Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs met with Johannes Van Der Klaauw, Head of the Regional Representative Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the South Caucasus and Furio de Angelis, Head of the Representative Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan. The Chairman of the State Committee said that large-scale projects at the state level are being implemented in Azerbaijan to address the problems of IDPs. It was noted that the President Ilham Aliyev has always focused on the solution of social problems of IDPs, and consistent and purposeful measures are being taken, large-scale programs are being implemented at the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Vice President of Azerbaijan. It was stated that the order signed by the President Ilham Aliyev regarding the restoration of the village Jojug Marjanli, which was liberated during the April war is a landmark event. Jojug Marjanli is a symbol of the return of the Azerbaijani people to their original lands. The restoration of this village clearly shows that our people are determined to liberate our other occupied territories as well. The Chairman of the State Committee underlined that UNHCR has been implementing various projects to address the problems of IDPs. The long-term and sustainable activity of the organization in our country has been positively appreciated. Furio de Angelis said that they had closely taken part in the work carried out after IDPs returned to their homeland in the village Jojug Marjanli. He stated that UNHCR plans to implement a number of projects related to IDPs in Azerbaijan. At the same time, discussions were held on marking the World Refugee Day on 20 June at the meeting. The prospects of cooperation related with the projects to be implemented regarding IDPs were discussed.
