On May 4, Rovshan Rzayev, the Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, met with Furio de Angelis, Head of the Representative Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan. The Chairman of the Committee said that the President Ilham Aliyev is always focused on the solution of social problems of refugees and internally displaced persons, and consecutive and purposeful activities are being carried out, large-scale programs are being implemented for this purpose at the initiative of the First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva. Rovshan Rzayev thanked the Head of the Representative Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan for his sensitive approach towards the problems of internally displaced persons. He noted that the Representative Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan has been operating in the country for a long time and supporting the solution of the problems of refugees and internally displaced persons in Azerbaijan with various projects. The Chairman of the Committee underlined that Azerbaijan, facing problems of refugees and internally displaced persons since the first years of independence, had overcome the majority of difficulties in this area. Reconstruction of the village Jojug Marjanli, liberated from the occupation of the Armenian armed forces, is a clear example of this. Rovshan Rzayev said at the same time that there is still much work to be done to solve the problems of internally displaced persons. Furio de Angelis spoke about the results of the assessment made by the Representative Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan in the village Jojug Marjanli of Jabrayil region. He said that they were planning to implement a number of projects related to IDPs. The prospects of mutual cooperation were discussed at the meeting.
