On June 2, The State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs and the World Bank signed a Letter of Agreement on the grant project “Improving the living conditions of IDPs in Azerbaijan”. The document was signed by the Chairman of the State Committee Rovshan Rzayev and the authorized representative of the World Bank-Manager for Azerbaijan, Europe and Central Asia Sarah Michael.
The main goal of the project is to increase the skills, access to support services and opportunities for income-generating areas of IDP families, which are planned to be relocated to the liberated territories in our country during 2023-2026 in accordance with the “The First State Program on the Great Return to the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan”.
Within the framework of joint cooperation, it is envisaged to conduct awareness-raising events in order to ensure the participation of communities in the implementation of various programs within the framework of reintegration measures in the liberated territories, to increase the skills of IDP communities in order to prepare for Sustainable Development Policy, to create the necessary environment for their development.
It should be noted that the project, which will last for 36 months, is planned to involve 520 beneficiaries in 18 cities and regions, directly covering the same number of families, and more than 2500 unemployed people in total. Within the framework of the grant project, preference will be given to IDPs who are currently defined as vulnerable categories for living conditions.
