The State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted the next board meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and analyse the results of the first quarter of 2023, as well as outline objectives.
During the meeting, a pivotal emphasis was placed on the extensive initiatives implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in the liberated territories, including significant measures to ensure the safety and security of our compatriots as they prepare to return to their ancestral lands. The unwavering attention and care exhibited by the head of state and First Vice-President, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, towards enhancing the housing and living conditions of refugees and IDPs, as well as strengthening their social protection, have elicited a sense of satisfaction and gratitude. It was noted that the timely and efficient implementation of measures outlined in the First State Program on the Great Return will accelerate the long-awaited process of return for IDPs.
During the meeting heads of relevant structural units presented reports and held discussions on various topics, including optimization of the efficiency of the committee's activities, ensuring the effective utilization of the funds allocated from the state budget for 2023, progress in construction and repair projects funded by the budget, determining facilities in need of immediate repair, preparing relevant comprehensive project-estimate documents and implementing measures to facilitate the repatriation of IDPs.
Chairman Rovshan Rzayev emphasized that extensive efforts have been made to ensure the voluntary, safe, and dignified resettlement of IDPs to various locations, including Shusha, Lachin city, Zabukh, and Sus villages in the Lachin district, as well as Talish village in Tartar district and Agali village in Zangilan district.
During discussions, relevant decisions were reached, and subsequent assignments were issued accordingly.
