The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ GmbH) implements the project “Social and economic development of IDPs and low-income local population in the South Caucasus” by order of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development. The measures planned for Azerbaijan in the project are carried out in cooperation with the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs.
So far, with the support of the State Committee, a number of measures have been taken to increase employment and entrepreneurship opportunities of IDPs, especially youth and women, temporarily settled in Mingachevir city, Aghdam and Barda regions. A total of 157 IDPs have been involved in the trainings called “Work Train” and “Business School” organized by GIZ. 47 out of 100 people provided with equipment for their professions are women.
It should be noted that according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs and the German Agency for International Cooperation in November last year, the implementation of the project is ongoing.
