Members of the European Parliament paying a visit to Azerbaijan met with Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of State Committee on the affairs of refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov on July 15, 2011. During the meeting held at the Committee Deputy Prime Minister talked about the history of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorny Garabagh conflict and noted that more than 1 million of our compatriots had driven out of their native lands as a result of the ethnic cleansing policy of Armenia. Speaking of the measures taken by Azerbaijani State to improve life conditions of refugees and IDPs Deputy Prime Minister said that 4,5 billion $ had been spent for these issues so far. 2,6 billion $ of this investment was budget allocation, 1 billion $ was allocation of State Oil Fund, 900 million $ was allocation of international humanitarian organizations. Up to 60 international humanitarian organizations are currently operating in Azerbaijan and the government has created every conditions for them. Expressing his gratitude for detailed information a Portuguese member of the European Parliament Jose Manuel Fernandes emphasized they hoped that European leaders would increase efforts in the solution of existing problems in the world and underlined the necessity of a peaceful settlement to conflict Azerbaijan, the rapidly developing and very important country in the region from geopolitical standpoint, come across. French member of the European Parliament Gaston Franco pleased with the comprehensive explanation on the history of the conflict notified that he felt himself like at home. Member of the Belgium Parliament Alan Destex emphasized that Azerbaijan would help to settle the problem by making itself known to the world more closely and bringing genuine truths to the attention of the International Community. At the end of the meeting the disc and book on Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorny Garabagh conflict were presented to the guests.
