On January 9, a few people, who presented themselves as Internet and social media representatives, made video shootings in the reception room of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, interviewed the citizens and recorded their appeals. Authorized representative of the press service of the State Committee made an appropriate statement on the issues raised by the citizens. However, those video footages were later broadcasted on social networks and internet resources without the statements.
In this regard we report that Shargiyya Rahimova, an IDP from Aghdam, spoke that time and complained that her son Anar Rahimov was not provided with a new apartment in Shirvan. As a result of the researches made by the State Committee, it was found out that Shargiyya Rahimova owns a residential area in Shirvan and her son lives in the same address. IDPs and their families (excluding families of martyrs) who received separate residential area in accordance with housing legislation or civil-law deals after the displacement are not provided with new residential area under item 2.11.2 of the “Regulation on provision of residential areas of the Fund for temporary relocation of IDPs” approved by the decision No.65, dated on February 24, 2017 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Anar Rahimov was not provided with an apartment in the newly built neighborhood of Shirvan.
In addition, IDPs were given broad explanations on other issues raised by them during video shootings.
We expresses regret that the internet and media representatives in our country who abuse the freedom of press and speech make subjective approach to the appeals of citizens, do not conduct an impartial and objective research, and that they did not include the statements made by the State Committee into the prepared video material and recommend them to comply with the etical standards of media.
