Brazil is interested in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan

Ali Hasanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs, the chairman of the Republican Commission on International Humanitarian Aid, met with the Head of Foreign Affairs Secretariat of the Brazil Deputies Chamber Atila Lins and Counsellor, Embassy Marcus Rouanet Machado de Mello on September 15. Greeting the guests on behalf of the government of Azerbaijan, Ali Hasanov spoke about the relations between the two countries. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of further expansion of bilateral ties by saying that relations between Azerbaijan and Brazil are developing. The Deputy Prime Minister saying our country is pursuing an independent policy emphasized that now Azerbaijan is in the centre of attention in the world. Today, we are not recognized as a country of oil and gas, but as a country realizing global projects and hosting essential events towards the solution of universal problems. We can show as an example “Eurovision” song contest, First European Olympic Games held in Baku for the first time, international dialogue forums and many other similar events. Ali Hasanov gave detailed information to the guests about Azerbaijani realities, Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the history of the problem and the status of refugees and internally displaced persons in our country. Unfortunately, these resolutions are still on paper. Armenia ignoring the demands of the international community continues its illegal activities in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Negotiation process mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group, has not given any results. The Deputy Prime Minister referring to biased resolution of the European Parliament on Azerbaijan said: “Those who criticize us on human rights violations ignore the rights of 1 million 200 thousand refugees and internally displaced persons whose rights are have been violated more than 23 years. We do not expect a fair decision from the international community. We believe only ourselves and the purposeful policy being carried out by President Ilham Aliyev for future development of our country.” Ali Hasanov stressed that today Europe fails to solve the problem of accommodation of 100-200 thousand refugees, but Azerbaijan has accommodated more than one million refuges and internally displaces persons and has solved their problem of unemployment. The guest said that last year many Brazilian tourists had visited Azerbaijan. The mutual visits of tourists have a positive impact on the relations between the two countries. The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Secretariat said that the development of inter-parliamentary relations have positive influences on the tightening of relations in all fields. Atila Lins also noted that he believed great victories of Azerbaijani athletes in XXXI Summer Olympic Games. He invited Ali Hasanov to visit his country. In the end, the guests were presented the book written in English and titled as President’s care to refugees and IDPs” and CD.
