Ensuring the social protection of internally displaced persons (IDPs) is one of the key directions of state policy. The Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Social Protection of Internally Displaced Persons and Persons Equated to Them” stipulates a number of social protection measures for former IDPs. One of these measures is the unified monthly allowance provided to socially vulnerable IDPs and financed from the state budget.
The State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan regularly holds meetings with communities and elders in the places where former IDPs are temporarily settled. During these meetings, they are provided with detailed information on social protection measures, including the statutory expiration periods of the unified monthly allowance, the calculation of these periods, as well as the legality and necessity of these provisions, along with issues related to the resettlement process.
In this regard, the next meeting was held at the Sevinc kindergarten in the city of Khirdalan, where IDPs are temporarily settled. Employees of the relevant structural unit of the State Committee provided the IDPs with detailed information about social protection measures and the Great Return, and answered their questions.
