The grave consequences of Khojaly genocide were discussed at international conference held in Baku

International Conference dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of Khojaly genocide was held by the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for deals of Refugees and IDPs and the Azerbaijan Society of Appraisers in the International Press Center on 24 February. Initially, memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide was commemorated with a minute of silence. Opening the event, the board member of the Eurasian Association of Appraisers, the deputy of Milli Majlis, Khanhuseyn Kazimli spoke about the painful consequences of Khojaly tragedy. Afterwards, the film about the atrocities that the Armenian armed forces committed against the Azerbaijanis was shown. In his speech at the international conference, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Republic, the Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov said that Khojaly genocide is the most brutal tragedy committed in the twentieth century. Discussing the assessment issues of both this tragedy and the damage caused to Azerbaijan by Nagorno-Karabakh conflict at the international level is very important at this international conference. Ali Hasanov noted that the tragedy is not one day tragedy; this genocide is the result of unfair, dirty fight against Azerbaijani Turks by Armenians in the last 200 years. “Justice for Khojaly!” International Awareness Campaign, initiated by the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva in 2009 activated work in this direction further. With the assignments of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev our embassies, diplomatic representations in foreign countries actively participated in this issue. It was emphasized that the Azerbaijani state was powerful enough this day. As a result of the efforts and tireless work of President Ilham Aliyev, our country was introduced to the entire world community. In his speech, Deputy Prosecutor General - military prosecutor Khanlar Valiyev stated that an investigation was conducted in 3 directions in the prosecutor’s office related to the genocides, crimes and deportation committed against Azerbaijan by Armenian military forces since 1988. The first direction investigates criminal offences committed against the Azerbaijanis in Khojaly, Meshali, Garadaghli etc. settlements. Second direction is connected with terrorist acts committed by Armenians in the transport vehicles, subways and various locations. The third direction deals with the crimes committed against the captives and hostages. The head of Shusha Region Executive Power Bayram Safarov, head of Khojaly Region Executive Power Shakhmar Usubov, National Writer Chingiz Abdullayev and others made speeches and highly appreciated the works done for the recognition of Khojaly genocide to the world public.
