The delegation of “Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation” – Emdad Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran visited the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs, Mr. Ali Hasanov met with the delegation of international humanitarian organization “Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation” of the Islamic Republic of Iran in relation to the completion of the activity of that organization’s representation in Azerbaijan on February 19. At the meeting Ali Hasanov spoke about the dynamic development of our country observed in recent years. It was mentioned that the number of humanitarian organizations operating in our Republic had been gradually decreasing as the government of Azerbaijan undertook the works carried out by them. At present, humanitarian assistance is provided for the countries that need it more than others. The Deputy Prime Minister also stated that it is the Emdad Committee that operated in Azerbaijan for such long period among 80 humanitarian organizations. Ali Hasanov noted that the activities implemented by Emdad Committee in Azerbaijan were always highly appreciated. Emphasizing on Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflicts the Deputy Prime Minister stated that 20 percent of the territories of Azerbaijan was occupied and 1 million 200 thousand Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs as a result of Armenia’s military aggression. However, the problem has not been solved yet due to the non-constructive position of Armenia that ignores the resolutions of authoritative international organizations on Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Ali Hasanov gave information about the works implemented by the President Ilham Aliyev and international organizations for the improvement of social and living conditions of refugees and IDPs. It was mentioned that 82 modern settlements and blocks were constructed and the living conditions of 180 thousand persons were improved in the issue of care and attention provided for this area by the Head of our state. One of the directions of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy is to maintain peaceful and friendly relations with all countries but first of all with neighbouring countries. We keep amicable relations with friendly and neighbouring countries such as Turkey, Iran, Russia and Georgia. We hope that Armenia will stop its aggressive policy, hold constructive position and understand that this country has disserved only itself during 20 years. Expressing his gratitude for warm hospitality and conditions created for the organization’s activity, the deputy chairman for international relations of “Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation” international humanitarian organization Mahammad Mahammadifar provided information about the date of establishment of organization and its activity. The guest mentioned that committee’s activity made contribution to the development of friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Iran as well as consolidation of bilateral strategic cooperation. At the closing of event Ali Hasanov expressed his gratitude to the Emdad Committee for the works carried out for more than 20 years and presented memorial gift to the management of organization.
