The Spanish Parliament members were informed about severe consequences of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict

The Deputy Prime Minister, the chairman of the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs Mr. Ali Hasanov met with the Spanish Parliament members who paid in the official visit to Azerbaijan. Ali Hasanov spoke about developing Azerbaijan-Spain relations during meeting. It was mentioned that Spain was one of the countries recognizing the independence of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan and Spain stand for each other in the international organizations. Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that he attached great importance to bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Spain and made a point of strengthening of interparliamentary relations. Providing detailed information for visitors on Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflicts and their consequences Ali Hasanov stated that Azerbaijanis were forced to leave their native land and subjected to ethnic cleansing as well as deportation policy several times in the issue of complicated political processes taking place in the last 200 years in the Caucasus region. Noting Nagorno Karabakh conflict to be the most essential problem of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov mentioned that comprehensive legal framework exists for the settlement of the conflict. Four resolutions were adopted by UN Security Council in 1993 on the settlement of conflict through peaceful means in a short period of time, unconditional and immediate evacuation of the occupied territories and return of refugees and IDPs to their home land. Aggressive policy of Armenia were condemned by decisions and resolutions adopted by European Council, NATO, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, European Parliament and other authoritative international organizations. However, the negotiations conducted through the intermediary of OSCE Minsk Group more than 20 years do not have any effect due to the non-constructive position of Armenia. It was mentioned that the Government of Azerbaijan makes great efforts in legal and socio- economic fields for meeting needs of refugees and IDPs. Social conditions of 180 thousand refugees and IDPs have been improved up to now. The head of delegation of the Spanish parliament Jose Maria Chikio stated that they were aware of aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan and the problems of Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs driven out of their native lands. He highlighted his regret over non-fulfilment of UN Security Council resolutions by Armenia and stated that they Azerbaijan would support the fair position of Azerbaijan. Emphasizing the visit of delegation group from Azerbaijan to Spain visitor noted that development of bilateral relations were discussed between our countries during meetings conducted within the confines of that visit. The views were exchanged in the meeting on the numerous issues rousing mutual interest.
