Works implemented for the improvement of social conditions of refugees and IDPs in Azerbaijan were highly appreciated

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Azerbaijan Republic, the chairman of the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs Mr. Ali Hasanov met with the U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar and the officials of the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration in September 19. Ali Hasanov gave detailed information about Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and its drastic consequences as well as emphasized that 1 million 200 thousand Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs. Ali Hasanov noted that most of all non-governmental organizations of the USA provided assistance to our citizens who become refugees and IDPs in the issue of conflict. International humanitarian organizations have provided assistance in the amount of $ 900 million to Azerbaijan over the last 20 years. $450 million of this amount account for non-governmental organization of the USA. Ambassador Richard Morningstar, regional refugee coordinator of the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration Joshua Fisheli, Deputy Ambassador of the USA to Azerbaijan Derek Hogan, the office of military cooperation of the embassy Bob Peters highly appreciated rapid economic advancement in Azerbaijan, the works carried out for the improvement of social conditions of refugees and IDPs. Emphasizing Washington’s great attention paid to the improvement of living conditions of refugees and IDPs visitors stated that they are ready to participate in the projects implemented in this direction. Views were exchanged on the actions carried out for the improvement of social conditions of our citizens who became refugees in the issue of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and world events. Finally, the book and video disk were presented to the visitors about the policy of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis in Armenia and drastic consequences of Azerbaijani territories’ occupation by Armenian armed forces.
