Italian youth were in the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs

The representatives of “Giovani nel Mondo” youth organization were in the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs. The deputy chairman of the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs gave information about the historical roots of Azerbaijan-Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and its effects and works carried out on the solution of the social problems of IDPs at the meeting. It was stated that 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory were occupied and more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugee and IDPs in the issue of military aggression of Armenia. It was noted that the aggressive policy of Armenia was repeatedly criticized in the decision and resolutions adopted by UN, OSCE, European Council and other influential international organizations. The withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied territories, the restoration of right to return of refugees and IDPs ousted from their native land was also demanded. However, ignoring the demands of international community and keeping non-constructive position in the negotiation process, Armenia continues its illegal activity in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Narcotic drugs are grown and other dangerous types of transnational crime are ranging in these uncontrolled areas. That uncontrolled zone has become the transit route for the transportation of narcotics to CIS and European countries. The visitors were informed about the works carried out by the government and international organizations in order to improve the living conditions of refugees and IDPs. It was mentioned that as a result of President Ilham Aliyev’s care and attention, U.S. $ 5,4 billion were spent on the solution of the problems of refuges and IDPs, 78 modern blocks were established. More than 140 thousand refugees and IDPs were moved to these settlements. At present, efforts in this direction are intensively in progress. The representatives of “Giovani nel Mondo” youth organization stated that they would publish the journal about the Azerbaijan realities on the basis of the materials that they had collected after their return to Italy. The questions of the visitors were responded during the meeting. Then they were in the newly established block for IDPs in Mushvigabad village of Garadagh region. It was brought to the attention of the visitors that, 211of 1440 apartments are one-room, 659 are two-room, 429 are three-room, 141are four-room during their acquaintance with the block. There had also been constructed community center, administrative building, first aid center, post office and two-exit fire department in the territory. The activities are being implemented also the new settlements and blocks are established in order to solve the social problems and improve living conditions of refugees and IDPs, at present. The representatives of “Giovani nel Mondo” youth organization were at the house of IDP Nazila Taghiyeva from Aghdam region and visited 1300-seat senior secondary school established in the block. Italian youth highly appreciated the works carried out for the improvement of social, living conditions of refugees and IDPs in Azerbaijan.
