The Georgian delegation highly appreciated the works carried out on the improvement of the living conditions of refugees and IDPs in Azerbaijan.

The deputy prime minister, chairman of the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs Mr. Ali Hasanov met with the delegation led by the minister of the IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia David Darakhvelidze. Firstly, the visitors got acquainted with the photo stands on the actions carried out to improve the living conditions of refugees and IDPs in our country and with the map reflecting the consequences of Armenian military aggression against Azerbaijan in 1988-1993. Ali Hasanov stated that, Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict is one of the most important and the most painful problems of Azerbaijan. As a result of the Armenian military aggression, 20% of Azerbaijan’s territory was occupied and more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs. Expressing his confidence about the returning of IDPs to their homelands in the future, the deputy prime minister noted that, as a result of the purposeful policy implemented by the President Ilham Aliyev in this direction, the right position of our country is increasingly supported and the prestige of Azerbaijan is increasing in the International arena. The chairman of the Committee informed the visitors about the works carried out by the government and international organizations in order to improve the living conditions of refugees and IDPs. It was noted that, as a result of President Ilham Aliyev’s care and attention, U.S. $ 5,4 billion were spent on the resolution of the problems of refuges and IDPs, 78 modern blocks were established. About 150 thousand refugees and IDPs were settled in these blocks. At present, efforts in this direction are intensively in progress. Ali Hasanov also spoke about the damage caused by the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He stated that, the experience of calculation of damages caused by the conflicts is being formed in the International arena. In this approach, according to approximate calculation, aggressive policy pursued by Armenia against our country caused more than U.S. $ 300 billion damage to Azerbaijan. Armenian people will have to pay this damage not the government of Armenia. Highly appreciating the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, Ali Hasanov noted that, our countries had always the same position regarding the regional processes. Both countries understand each other better because they are facing the same problems. Expressing satisfaction on the development of relations between our countries David Darakhvelidze emphasized that, the work carried out for the improvement of social, living conditions of refugees and IDPs is worthy of high price. Finally, the information book reflecting the severe consequences of the policy of ethnic cleansing in Armenia and the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by the armed forces of Armenia, discs of the film about the conflict and memorial gifts were presented to the visitors.
