The delegation of political advisers of European Parliament visited the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs

The delegation of political advisers of European Parliament met with the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs Garay Farhadov. First, at the foyer of the Committee, accompanied by Garay Farhadov the visitors were introduced the expositions and photo-stands reflecting numerous actions carried out by the State of Azerbaijan for settlement of problems of refugees and IDPs. Photo-stands and expositions reflecting miserable state, in first days, of our compatriots forcibly driven out of their native lands due to aggression of Armenian armed forces, their intolerable conditions of that time in residential facilities, meetings of the Nationwide Leader and the President Ilham Aliyev with refugees and IDPs, abolishment of refugee camps, images of newly built settlements and high residential complexes and other measures caused great interest of the visitors. Expressing gratitude to the members of European Parliament for finding time and meeting in order to get closely acquainted with our main problem, Garay Farhadov gave detailed information about Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, its main causes, more than one million compatriots’ becoming refugees and IDPs due to this conflict and aggression of Armenia, their heavy social conditions and the actions performed by the State of Azerbaijan in this sphere. Garay Farhadov mentioned that Armenia used some excuses to avoid the negotiations despite of the efforts of Azerbaijan to settle the conflict through peace, and spoke about the Armenians’ damaging and appropriating historical monuments, cultural and art works, natural sources belonging to Azerbaijan in occupied territories. Bringing to attention the effort of Azerbaijan to settle the conflict peacefully, the speaker underlined that such position was supported by world states and international agencies, and noted that Armenia ignored the resolutions and decisions of the UN Security Council, the Council of Europe and other international organizations on liberating the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Finally he stated that such compatriots had just a wish – to return to their native lands, though favourable conditions were created for them. Summarizing his views regarding the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and its results that were a serious barrier for the development of Azerbaijan and threat for security of the region and Europe, Garay Farhadov expressed regret at not being fulfilled the resolution of European Parliament condemning expansionist policy of Armenia and supporting fair position of Azerbaijan. He also stated the necessity of European parliamentarians’ activity in execution of this resolution and other documents on settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Questions of the guests were answered at the meeting, as well.
