Members of the European Parliament visited the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs

On August 31, members of the European Parliament, on visit to Azerbaijan, met with the Deputy Prime Minister, chair of State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov. Highly appreciating the visit of the European Parliament delegation to our country, Ali Hasanov gave detailed information about the problems that Azerbaijan faced and its achievements in early years of independence. He spoke about historical roots, results of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, problems caused by it, present conditions of refugees and IDPs, actions carried out for settlement of their social problems. The UN Security Council, OSCE, Council of Europe and other authoritative international organizations have adopted decisions and resolutions on liberating the territories occupied by Armenia. Official Baku is supporter of solution of the conflict in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, through peace, and this policy remains unchanged. But Armenia, supporting terror at the state level, does not give up its policy of aggression, takes no heed of 4 resolutions (adopted in 1993) of the UN Security Council on settlement of the conflict through peace, return of refugees and IDPs to their native lands, as well as decisions of other international organizations concerning the conflict. Ali Hasanov said he was sure that visit of Members of the European Parliament to our country and that day’s meeting would positively have influence on delivering the truth about Nagorno Karabakh conflict, generally Azerbaijani realities to the world. The head of the European Parliament delegation, member of Belgian Parliament Alain Destexhe stated that they were satisfied with their visit to Azerbaijan, and rapid, dynamic development of the country, beauty of Baku and Icheri Sheher (Inner City) admired them. The guest, who stated importance of such meetings, said: “Azerbaijan, rapidly integrating into Europe, is of great importance for us. The role played by Azerbaijan not only in the region, but also in the whole world and growing reputation is estimable. Our visit aims at collecting detailed information about Azerbaijan, the whole region and Nagorno Karabakh conflict. We will visit the regions of Azerbaijan and get acquainted with the conditions of IDPs, as well”. Then other European deputies, making a speech, highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s integration into Europe and growing reputation in the world, emphasized necessity of fair solution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict in a short time. It was stated that peace in the region would positively influence not only the growth of Azerbaijan, but also the region. In the end, members of the delegation were given disk of the film about Nagorno Karabakh conflict, journal and a present.
