A group of French senators met with internally displaced persons settled in Bilasuvar region

A group of French senators – Mrs. Natalie Glue, mayor of Serdon city Mrs. Sylvia Go-Shavan, mayor of Bernay city Herve Maurey and his spouse Mrs. Laurence Maurey, first vice-president of Supreme Council of Alsace region Andre Rechard, deputy of the National Assembly of France, mayor of Chalons-en Champagne city Bruno Burg-Brok, mayor of Le Mont Saint-Michel city of Lower Normandy of France included in UNESCO's World Heritage List - Eric Vannier and his spouse Mrs. Laura Reyes, who arrived in Azerbaijan to see “Eurovision-2012” song contest held in Baku, met with IDPs from Jabrayil region settled in Bilasuvar, on May 27. The head of Jabrayil region Executive Power Mahmud Guliyev made a speech at the event and stated that one of the regions occupied by Armenians was Jabrayil. IDPs of Jabrayil region, area of which is 1050 sq meters, number of population of which was 52 thousand 604 during the occupation and 65 thousand 542 at present, were settled in nearly 2 thousand dwelling areas of 58 cities and regions of Azerbaijan, as well as 20 thousand people (4 thousand 456 families) in 11 settlements built in Bilasuvar in 2003-2007. Emphasizing that all conditions and social infrastructure were provided for Jabrayil people settled in newly built settlements, Mahmud Guliyev gave the guests information about the employment and way of life of people living here. M. Guliyev noted that though Jabrayil people settled in different cities and regions of the country are given care of all kinds, they look forward to returning to their native lands. There was informed that 368 of 20 thousand Azerbaijani martyrs in Karabakh war were from Jabrayil region. Jabrayil people are ready at any point for order of the President of Azerbaijan Republic, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev to release the occupied lands. M. Guliyev, answering the questions of French senators, denounced a group of French deputies for their recent visit to Nagorno Karabakh without the permission of Azerbaijan. French senators met with IDPs in front of district club № 4 and inquired about their problems, had their memory photo taken. A martyr’s mother Sakina Guliyeva expressed her gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan Republic for the condition created for IDPs, and stated that they all lived longing for native lands and were ready to die for their lands. She asked all mothers in the world to support them. The guests, in the club, were introduced historical documents and photos with headings “Jabrayil region before the occupation”, “Way of life in tent camps”, “Meeting of the great leader Heydar Aliyev with IDPS in 1998”, “Building of a new settlement”, “Destroying tent camps”, “Meeting of the President Ilham Aliyev with IDPs in newly built settlements” arranged in the corner in regard to the history of the region, noted their impressions on the region in “Memorial book”. French senators answered the questions of journalists at press conference held in the club with the participation of local residents.
