Deputy Prime Minister, the Chairman of the State Committee on the Affairs of Refugees and İnternally Displaced Persons Mr.Ali Hasanov accepted Nasir Abdul Karim Abdurrahman, the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Palestinian state in Azerbaijan, at his request.

At the meeting mainly aiming at acquaintance, greeting the guest Deputy Prime Minister A.Hasanov gave inclusive information about the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Garabagh conflict our country confronts with, the problem of refugee and internally displaced person resulted from it, reasons of these matters, large-scale measures taken by the state in the solution of the problems of our compatriots being from this stratum. Referring to the first visit of Mahmud Abbas, President of Palestinian state in this summer and the opinions expressed during his statement to the press together with Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Azerbaijan Republic, he notified that they have like problems as the relations between their nations approaching each other with sympathy have great history. Lands of Palestinian are under occupation. So are the lands of Azerbaijan. They have many refugees. So have we. Estimating especially recent development of bilateral relations in different fields between two countries as a success of Azerbaijan and Palestinian diplomacy and speaking about Azerbaijan’s supporting Palestinian state in all international organizations, Deputy Prime Minister expressed his assuredness in the peaceful solution of the problems both countries face. Giving information about the last stage of the talks conducted in the direction of settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Garabagh conflict, A.Hasanov stated that territorial integrity of Azerbaijan recognized by the international community has been violated for many years. We have more than one million refugees and IDPs. 20 % of our lands are under the occupation. Azerbaijanis were subjected to the ethnic cleansing policy in their native land. All buildings were destroyed in the occupied territories. The Armenians have destroyed schools, hospitals, historical and religious monuments. He noted that the international community supports our stance. The UN Security Council adopted four resolutions on this issue. In these resolutions it was stipulated that the Armenian occupation forces must be unconditionally withdrawn from the occupied lands. Unfortunately, the Armenian side still ignores these resolutions. Dispite the presence of legal grounds for the conflict settlement non-constructive stance of Armenia, some competent states and organizations’ not calling the invader by name prolong the conflict solution At the meeting where comprehensive exchange of views on the events occuring in the both regions was held, considering Palestinian diplomat’s close interest in the experience gained in the direction of a solution to a problem of refugee and internally displaced person in Azerbaijan, inclusive information about the measures taken on this matter was given to him, an explanation was provided for the questions of interest to him concerning this problem. The ambassador expressing his gratitude for acception and broad information, accentuated the significance of proceeding with such meetings and getting a benefit from the experience gained by Azerbaijan in the solution of the problem and highly estimated by the internatinal organizations.
