Mass media reported that on August 13, one internally displaced citizen tried to commit a suicide in the building of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs because the problem concerning housing remained unresolved. We inform regarding it that the same citizen – Novruzzada Natig Nadir, an internally displaced person from Fuzuli, has been temporarily settled in the dormitory No. 1, located in “Babak ave., 87, Nizami district, Baku” with his family. 58 out of 112 rooms of the dormitory have been inhabited by local residents based on the property right and 54 by internally displaced persons. Since the building was damaged, appropriate measures were taken to move the residents from the building. 26 of local residents and internally displaced families received compensation and moved from the dormitory on March 16-17 this year. The 27 internally displaced families identified by the relevant government authorities as not actually living there did not receive compensation. Those families have been applying to various state and government authorities since that time. They have visited the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs several times recently. On August 13, the Chairman of the Committee Rovshan Rzayev met with these people and listened to their appeals. After the meeting, Novruzzada Natig Nadir did not leave the committee building, caused a stir on the third floor, made an impression to attempt committing suicide by breaking the window of the corridor and attracting the attention of the surrounding people. The Chairman of the Committee immediately came to the scene and tried to calm Novruzzada Natig Nadir, make him avoid the illegal actions. Rovshan Rzayev`s efforts and sincere communication calmed Novruzzada Natig Nadir down. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and ambulance were called to the scene. Investigation is underway by the law enforcement bodies of Yasamal district concerning the incident. Necessary legal measures will be taken regarding the actions of the citizen Novruzzada Natig Nadir.
