Ukraine is interested in using Azerbaijan's experience in solving the social problems of refugees and IDPs

On August 30, delegation led by Deputy Minister for the Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Georgie Touka visited the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs. The purpose of the meeting was to study Azerbaijan's experience in connection with supporting refugees and IDPs in Ukraine and establishing regulatory legal base in the relevant field. Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs, Chairman of the Republican Commission on International Humanitarian Aid Ali Hasanov spoke about the works done by the government of Azerbaijan to improve the social and living conditions of refugees and IDPs. The guests were informed that one of the countries that has been subjected to ethnic cleansing and occupation of territories today is Azerbaijan. There are more than one million two hundred thousand refugees and IDPs in our county. Azerbaijan is one of the countries that has the world's largest IDPs by the number of IDPs per capita. At present, a book is prepared by the State Committee on the solution of problems of refugees and IDPs. The book contains all the processes and events that happened within 25 years. Ali Hasanov stated that the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev was personally interested in the problems of refugees and IDPs, gave them attention and care. Works done by the Great Leader in this area are studiously being continued by the President of the Repbulic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva. State of Azerbaijan has always considered the solution of the problem of our compatriots who have been displaced from their homelands to be number one task. Large-scale measures undertaken by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to solve these problems has a great improtance. The constant attention and care of the National Leader to refugees and IDPs, the first steps towards the abolition of tent camps became the basis for further works. A full legal basis has been created in accordance with international norms related to the solution of social, living and housing problems of refugees and IDPs in Azerbaijan, a state program has been approved related to this. The measures taken by the government of Azerbaijan to improve the living conditions of refugees and IDPs are highly appreciated by international organizations and are an example for countries facing similar problems. The government of Azerbaijan solves all problems of refugees and IDPs more than one million by itself. Ali Hasanov informed the guests in details about the serious consequences of the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan. He said that the Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the main problem of Azerbaijan today. Deputy Minister for the Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Georgie Touka highly appreciated the rapid economic development of our country, the enormous authority of the State of Azerbaijan in the international arena achieved in a short period of time, and the works done to improve social conditions of refugees and IDPs. He said that, his country pays special attention to using Azerbaijan's experience in the development and application of regulatory and legal documents under the norms of international law in order to improve social and housing conditions of refugees and IDPs, to increase their employment, to strengthen their rights and social protection. The Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Alexander Mishchenko also attended the meeting. It should be noted that, the delegation will visit Social Development Fund of Internally Displaced Persons, Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), meet with IDPs and get closely acquainted with their living conditions within the framework of the visit program.
