A member of France Senate Mrs. Natalie Guli meets internally displaced from Khojavend in the area of Beylagan region

A member of the France Senate Mrs Natalie Guli, who is paying a visit to Azerbaijan, met with IDPs from Khojavend region temporarily settled in Khojavend settlement constructed in the area of Beylagan region. Eyvaz Huseynov, Head of Executive Power of Khojavend region, who welcomed the guests, gave brief information about Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and its consequences and talked about the works done in the direction of the improvement of housing-living condition of refugees and internally displaced people. He said that Khojavend region was invaded by Armenian armed forces in 1992. So far 4 settlements have been constructed for IDPs from Khojavend, a lot of work has been done in the direction of the improvement of their housing condition. Nevertheless, the biggest desire of Khojavend IDPs is to go back to their homeland. He mentioned with regret that the UN Security Council resolutions concerning to the conflict and international law are not followed. The guests visited to the house of Sevil Azimova an IDP from Garadaghli village of Khojavend region and had conversation behind a tea table. The IDP S.Azimova said to the France Senator: “Armenians forced us to flee our homes, my 2 sons and other relatives were killed. Armenians killed 77 habitats of our village during a single day. We want to live on our own land. Please, convey our voice to the world”. Natalie Guli, who reminded that this was her second visit to Azerbaijan, said that her aim is to get familiar with the situation of refugees and IDPs. She said: “I understand you. The unfairness towards you is unbearable. On the bases of the gathered information I have sent a letter to the France Senate and President, made a speech in the Senate. In Karabakh issue Azerbaijan is right. Your rights are acknowledged in the world level”. Afterwards, the guests visited to Salakatin secondary school and got familiar with the condition there. N. Guli talked to teachers and pupils, interested in their views and desires. The guest also met and talked to Jenya Zeynalova (Yesayan) who was ethnic Armenian. The 72 years old Armenian woman said that she got married with Azeri Javanshir Zeynalov in 1959 and they have 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 4 grand-grandchildren. She also said that everybody respects to her here and her 3 children have been given new houses. Later the guest visited to the kindergarten, the central region hospital and the community centre. The guest was accompanied by Elchin Amirbayov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador in France, officials of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs.
