Deputies representing different countries in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe met with IDPs

On March 15, a large delegation consisting of the deputies representing different countries in the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe reviewed the conditions created in the quarter for IDPs in Masazir settlement, Absheron district.
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs Garay Farhadov and the Head of Zangilan region Executive Power Ramiz Hasanov expressed his gratitude to the European guests for coming to the meeting in order to review the comprehensive conditions created by Azerbaijan Republic for our internally displaced compatriots as a result of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and highlighted that Azerbaijan has been subjected to the military aggression of Armenia as a result of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and 20 percent of our lands- our historical lands in Nagorno Karabakh and surrounding 7 regions have been occupied by Armenians, ethnic cleansing policy has been carried out in these territories and more than one million people have become refuges and IDPs.
Noting that the model of Azerbaijan established as a result of the successful policy of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev is already appreciated by the authoritative international organizations and informing about the measures taken so far, Garay Farhadov stated that 760 IDP families temporarily settled in this quarter and they will return to their native lands after the liberation of our lands. Highlighting that the IDPs provided with new apartments here have previously settled in the dormitories, Deputy Chairman of the Committee mentioned that 95 modern settlements having such necessary social and technical infrastructure have been built up to now in the various territories of the Republic in order to improve housing conditions of the compatriots living in harder conditions. Garay Farhadov said that the government of Azerbaijan undertook to solve all the problems of these people who left their homes. The State Program and Amendments thereto were approved by the Order of the President of Azerbaijan Republic in order to take comprehensive measures related to the employment, education, living, health and social security of refugees and IDPs.
After that, the guests reviewed the comprehensive conditions created in Zangilan region senior secondary school No. 33 for 540 students and kindergarten for 280 children in the quarter, met with teaching staff members in school yard and exchanged views. During the meeting, it was stated that, today the government of Azerbaijan shows interest for the citizens living as IDP, regularly focuses on the solution of their problems. The quarter itself and the conditions created here prove all these. However, all the IDPs hope to return to their native lands. During the meeting expressing their satisfaction with the comprehensive conditions created both in the settlement and school, European guests also expressed the necessity of the solution of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict based on the norms and principles and return of the refugees and IDPs to their native lands.
