A meeting was held with the head of the Representation of UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan.

Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs, Chairman of the Republican Commission on International Humanitarian Assistance Mr. Ali Hasanov received the head of the Representation of UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan Dag Sigurdson on April 28. At the meeting it was stated that, UN High Commissioner for Refugees is one of the organizations which are very important for Azerbaijan even today and the Representation of that organization in Azerbaijan has helped to solve the problems of refugees and IDPs in our country by implementing various projects in sustainable and transparent manner since the beginning of its operations. Deputy Prime Minister, Ali Hasanov expressed his serious remarks at the meeting related to the wrong and distorted information about the events occurred along with the contact line of troops of Armenia-Azerbaijan on April 2016 and Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict spread on the official web site of UN High Commissioner for Refugees on April 11. At the meeting Deputy Prime Minister, Ali Hasanov noted that in spite of the removal of the same information a refutation should be given on this issue and after that he gave a serious warning about it. He also mentioned that, as a result of the provocative attacks of aggressive Armenia our territories in the contact line were fired regularly and as a result of this damage caused to the IDPs and local residents, houses were destroyed and residents were killed among the civilian population. However nothing is said about it in the press-release in the official web site of UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Issuance of such wrong and distorted information is contrary to the resolutions of UN Security Council and other international agencies on the conflict. At the same time, at the meeting the discussions were made on the next visit on free eye exams and glasses distribution of the staff led by the head of the “Fuji Optical” company of Japan, Dr. Akio Kanai who awarded with International “Nansen Refugee Award” and the implementation of event on “June 20, World Refugee Day”.
