Commemorative event was held on 21st anniversary of occupation of Gubadli district

On August 29, commemorative event was held on 21st anniversary of occupation of Gubadli district by the Armenian military units in Sumgait. First, participants of the event visited “Shahidlar Khiyabani” Memorial Complex in the city of Sumgait. Speaking at the event which state and government officials, deputies of Milli Majlis (National Assembly), representatives of the community were present, head of Gubadli District Executive Power Malik Isagov mentioned that all property of the district having rich history, were plundered by Armenians during the occupation. Head of Executive Power pointed out that regardless of where the population of the district settled, their problems and difficulties are in the spotlight of the local executive authorities. This is the adequate manifestation of the policy which was founded by the Great Leader and now is being developed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Malik Isagov noted that longing for land never left our people for a moment during the past 21 years after occupation. Our state and government carry out complex measures for the improvement of the living conditions of internally displaced persons and in the field of provision of their employment. Our population welcomes all care and attention with gratitude, and lives with the desire to return to their native lands. Population of the district is committed to the state and firmly convinced that the day which they will return to their home Gubadli under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev is not far away. Speaking at the event Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov said that commitment to the sate displayed by the population of Gubadli living the life as displaced persons with the longing for land is an example. Ali Hasanov said that we should not always remember the occupation of our land with sorrow. Ali Hasanov said that the format of the event held today is different and talked about the cultural-historical monuments. He mentioned that Gubadli endowed a national hero as Gachag Nabi, heroine as Hajar, General as Valeh Bershadli and prominent intellectuals. At the same time, he emphasized that 9 out of 149 National Heroes fighting for the liberty and territorial integrity of our country, were the residents of Gubadli. It shows that the population of the district fought enough against the enemy. Deputy Prime Minster stated that in spite of all difficulties district population actively took part in the reconstruction works spread in Azerbaijan during this period. Ali Hasanov expressed his regret that international powers do not exert sufficient pressure on the aggressive policy of Armenia and said that he has infinite belief that we will return to our native lands under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
