A new neighborhood was put into operation in the territory of Umid settlement in Garadagh district.

Pursuant to the "State Program for improving the living conditions and increasing employment of refugees and IDPs" approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Additions to it, performance of large-scale measures in order to solve the employment and social problems of our internally displaced compatriots, especially improve their living and housing conditions is successfully continued during the past years and is being continued today. In general, construction of new settlements, transfer of our compartments planned to resettle in these residential areas, construction of multi-storey residential buildings for internally displaced persons settled in dormitories located in the capital and in the first place, emptying the dormitories which are in severe conditions and other issues are implemented in stages and according to the relevant paragraphs of the State Program and Additions to it. For information it should be mentioned that 83 modern settlements consisting of 42 000 flats using 2, 6 million square kilometers residential area were built for refugees and internally displaced persons and housing conditions of 42 000 family or 210 thousand refugees and IDPs were improved. Neighborhood built in the territory of Umid settlement in Garadagh district is planned for 500 internally displaced families and constructed according to the relevant paragraphs of the Additions approved by the Decree issued on 21 February 2011, to the “State Program on improvement of living conditions and increasing employment refugees and internally displaced persons” approved by Decree 298 of the 1st of July, 2004 issued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In the first stage, the construction of neighborhood for 200 families at the same area was completed and resettlement our internally displaced compatriots planned to transfer to the same neighborhood by the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs were started. Totally, 220-seat school building with modern standards, as in other places, was also built in this settlement covering 10 ha area. New residential neighborhood is fully equipped with electricity, gas, water and modern heating systems. Our internally displaced compatriots, who are transferred to new residential neighborhood, expressed their deep gratitude to the head of our state Mr. Ilham Aliyev for this condition. Internally displaced persons said that they rely on the President of Azerbaijan and expressed their confidence that as a result of the wise, firm policy of our head of state, they will return to their native lands. They emphasized that this trust is due to the successful domestic and foreign policy pursued by our head of state. Solution of all problems of refugees and internally displaced persons in our country is always on the spotlight of the President of Azerbaijan.
