The Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov: Armenia wants to distract the attention of people from the problems in the country by aggravating the situation at front.

The Deputy Prime Minster of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov gave an interview to “TV Tokio” channel of Japan on August 4. In the interview, Ali Hasanov informed about the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the history of the problem and the situation of refugees and internally displaced persons in our country. Deputy Prime Minster told that Azerbaijanis undergone ethnic cleansing and forced deportation from their native homelands during the past 200 years, as a result of complicated political processes happened in the South Caucasus region. Ali Hasanov said: “Armenian state established at the expense of the historical lands of Azerbaijan. Yerevan being one of the ancient cities of Azerbaijan, now is the capital of Armenia.” Deputy Prime Minster talked about the results of the aggression by the Armenian armed forces and mentioned that 20 % of our lands were occupied, 1 million and 200 thousand Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs, national cultural values were plundered and all infrastructures were destructed as a result of the conflict. Chairman of the Committee stressed that United Nations Security Council adopted 4 resolutions in 1993, on the liberation of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, return of refugees and IDPs to their homes: “The aggressive policy of Armenia was criticized in the decisions and resolutions adopted by Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other influential international organizations. Unfortunately, these decisions and resolutions have not been implemented yet. Ongoing negotiation processes which lasted more than 20 years through OSCE Minsk Group yielded no results.” Ali Hasanov said that in the night of February 26, 1992 Armenia armed forces committed a crime of genocide against Azerbaijani in Khojaly with the help of 366th Motorized Rifle Regiment armed with the weapons of modern warfare of that period, situated in Khankandi district of former USSR. Deputy Prime Minster talked about the Japan-Azerbaijan relations and said that there is good relations between two countries and mutual visits play special role in the development of these relations. Ali Hasanov said that several humanitarian organization of Japan are implementing successful projects in Azerbaijan and evaluated the activity of “Fuji Optical” company belonging to this country in Azerbaijan. Chairman of the Committee noted that this company provided nearly 19 thousand Azerbaijani internally displaced persons with poor vision.
