Event dedicated to the World Refugee Day was held

On June 20 event dedicated to the World Refugee Day was held with the joint support of the State Committee of The Republic of Azerbaijan on Deals of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons and the Representative of UNHCR in Azerbaijan. State and government officials, deputies of Milli Majlis, the representatives of diplomatic corps, the representatives of public participated in the event. A video film about the care and attention to refugees and IDPs by the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev was demonstrated. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Ali Hasanov spoke about the works done to improve the living conditions of refugees and IDPs in the country. Ali Hasanov said that successes achieved under the leadership of the President Ilahm Aliyev made Azerbaijan as an important actor of the international system. The essence and aims of the political strategy carried out by the head of our state serve to ensure long-term development for the future of mankind exceeding national framework. Deputy Prime Minister also talked about the works done by the international organizations under the leadership of the President İlham Aliyev to improve the social, housing and living conditions of refugees and IDPs. Ali Hasanov said that today the economy of Azerbaijan is dynamically developing. As a result of care and attention by the head of state, 82 modern settlements and neighborhoods have been built for the refugees and internally displaced persons, the housing and living conditions of 180 000 refugees and internally displaced persons have been improved. Humanitarian programs are being carried out for the refugees displaced from their native lands as a result of the conflict. Deputy Prime Minister said: “However, the conflict has been solved yet, but the government of Azerbaijan is properly using its constantly increasing economic opportunities to improve the social and housing conditions of its citizens until they return to their native lands. But our lands are under the occupation. Armenia made a military aggression against Azerbaijan. 4 resolutions envisaging the unconditional discharge of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan adopted by the world’s most important and influential organization UN Security Council have not been implemented yet. Sanctions are not applied against Armenia. It encourages Armenia as well. For many years we are witnessing the double-standards approach against Azerbaijan.” Ali Hasanov particularly stressed the merits of the First Lady of Azerbaijan, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Foundation Leyla Aliyeva in informing the world community about the realities of the conflict.
