Cooperation with UNICEF will be continued successfully in the future

The Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Republic, the chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs, Chairman of the Republican Commission on International Humanitarian Assistance Ali Hasanov met with Mark Hereward who is completing his mission as the head of Representative Office for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Azerbaijan. During the meeting The Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov highly appreciated joint activity, cooperation with UNICEF represented by Mark Hereward as the head of Representation of this international organization in Azerbaijan since the establishment of representative office in the country, especially in the last five years and said that UNICEF had implemented respective programs to protect the rights of IDP and refugee children displaced from their native lands as a result of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, safeguard their health and solve education-related problems. It was noted that first programs of the UNICEF dealing with humanitarian needs and national priorities were replaced by National Programs, which contributed to the children-related state policy, strengthening the system of protecting social security rights of IDP children. It was noted that children`s problems occupy a special place in the domestic policy of the country and Azerbaijan is the partner of several international organizations, including UNICEF. This cooperation gives impetus to the implementation of important programs and exchange of experience on child development. Cooperation with UNICEF planned to contribute to the development of children as well as to ensure their interests. Hereward thanked the government of Azerbaijan for highly appreciating the activity of representative office led by him and supporting the UNICEF-led projects and said that Azerbaijan achieved a number of successes in the field of protection of children’s rights. He described cooperation with Azerbaijan in recent years, evaluated joint and efficient efforts in the protection of children’s rights as a good example and expressed confidence that this cooperation would continue to develop. In the end, The Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov thanked Mark Hereward for his effective activity in Azerbaijan and congratulated him for his appointment as deputy director of the UNICEF regional office for African countries. Deputy Head of the UNICEF Azerbaijan Office Rashid Mustafa was also present at the meeting.
