Ambassador of Kingdom of Norway to Azerbaijan was in the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs.

The Deputy Prime Minister, the chairman of the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs Mr. Ali Hasanov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to Azerbaijan, Erling Skjonsberg and the new head of the representation of international humanitarian organization “Norwegian Humanitarian Enterprise” in Azerbaijan, John Gjertsen on February 11. Ali Hasanov emphasized the high level relations existing between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Kingdom of Norway in the meeting. Azerbaijan is interested in the successful development of cooperation in the future. Noting Armenia-Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh conflicts Deputy Minister stated that 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory was occupied and more than 1million 200 thousand Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs in the issue of Armenian military aggression. Deputy Minister stated that fair position of our country obtained further support in the issue of deliberate policy of the President Ilham Aliyev and prestige of Azerbaijan increased in the international arena. However, the problem has not been solved yet due to the non-constructive position of Armenia that ignores resolutions of authoritative international organizations on Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflicts. Ali Hasanov provided information about the works implemented by the President Ilham Aliyev and international organizations for the improvement of social and living conditions of refugees and IDPs. It was mentioned that 82 modern settlements and blocks were constructed and living conditions of 180 thousand persons were improved in the issue of care and attention of the head of our state. Deputy Minister stated that humanitarian programs were implemented for IDPs forcefully displaced from their native lands caused by the conflict as well. Highlighting the operation of “Norwegian Refugee Council” and international humanitarian organization “Norwegian Humanitarian Enterprise” in Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov mentioned that numerous projects covering different fields had been implemented in this period. The government of Azerbaijan created all essential conditions for its free and transparent operation. Erling Skjonsberg noted that Kingdom of Norway supported the fair position of Azerbaijan in the international events on many occasions. Noting dynamic development of Azerbaijan during a short period of time after restoration of its independence Erling Skjonsberg emphasized that Kingdom of Norway would increase its efforts made for the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflicts peacefully. Making speech about economic relations existing between our countries ambassador expressed his confidence on further development of our relations in the next years.
