The editor of Spain's prestigious news agency "EFE" was apprised of the genocide acts committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis.

Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov met with well-known journalist, editor of "EFE" agency, one of the most prestigious news agencies of Spain, as well as of Europe Carmen Clara Rodriguez Alonso, on December 16. Ali Hasanov, making a detailed speech at the meeting about Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its consequences, stated that Azerbaijanis had been undergone forced displacement, ethnic cleansing and deportation over the last 200 years at the result of complex political processes taking place in the Caucasus region. During 1988-1992 the policy of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis in the territory of Armenia was carried out with an unprecedented cruelty and atrocity, 250 thousand of our compatriots expelled from their home lands and became refugees. The Deputy Prime Minister underlined that 20 percent of Azeri territory, as well as the adjacent 7 regions was occupied, about one million of our compatriots became refugees and internally displaced persons, our national and cultural resources was plundered, entire infrastructure was destroyed as a result of military aggression of armed forces of Armenia against Azerbaijan, as well as spoke about Khojali massacre. Ali Hasanov stated that, Armenian military forces in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh committed massacre against Azerbaijanis in the city of Khojali with the help of the 366th Motor Rifle Regiment of former soviet army located in Khankendi on 25–26 February 1992. As a result, 613 civilians were murdered, 500 people were missing, and excessive number of people was injured. Ali Hasanov apprised the guest of 31 March - Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis and stated that the process beginning from 1 march 1918 continued till 4 April. During this 5-days process 5000 Azerbaijanis were murdered, 150 thousand people injured and 400 thousand people have changed their place of residence. The chairman of the committee, talking about Tragedy of January 20 noted that this terrible event was committed by Sovietian Army on 20 January, 1990. The vast majority of those forces were Armenians. Carmen Clara Rodrigues Alonso thanked for detailed information and gave information about the news agency which he represents. He stated that the main purpose of his visit to our country was to deliver tragedies historically faced by Azerbaijan people to the world community. The guest highlighted the importance of the information he obtained at the meeting. The guest, appreciating the progress observed in Azerbaijan, underlined that Baku is the combination of modernity and antiquity.
