Foreign young people were provided with detailed information on Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict

On June 19, the Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov met with the foreign young people involved in "Eastern Partnership" Youth Network - Regional Platform Model" project. Speaking about the achievements of Azerbaijan, Ali Hasanov said Azerbaijan became an arena of important international events and a centre of international interest. It was noted that Azerbaijan was included in the list of rapidly developing countries in a very short period of time. During the recent ten years, more than one million workplaces have been established, and poverty has significantly decreased. Azerbaijan has been chosen a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council winning votes by 155 countries. Ali Hasanov informed the guests about the historical roots, effects of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Upper Garabagh conflict, and activities for solution of social problems of refugees and IDPs. He stated that Armenia's military aggression resulted in occupation of 20% territories of Azerbaijan, and as a result more than one million people became refugees and IDPs. There was stated that Armenia's aggressive policy has for many times condemned by decisions and resolutions of the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe and other influential international organizations. Besides, the chairman of the committee provided information on actions carried out by the country's leader and international organizations to improve living conditions of refugees and IDPs. He noted that USD 5.4 milliard was spent and 78 district were established for settlement of problems of refugees and IDPs as the care and attention of the President Ilham Aliyev. More than 140 thousand refugees and IDPs were settled in these districts. Activities are being implemented for these purposes. The young people mentioned Azerbaijan's economy was developing rapidly and it was becoming influential on international arena, and highly appreciated the works done for improvement of social, living conditions of refugees and IDPs. At the end of the meeting the guests were presented memorial gifts, hand book, videodisc reflecting serious effects of Armenia's ethnic cleansing policy against the Azerbaijanis and occupation of Azerbaijani territories by the Armenian armed forces.
