Conference for the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev who always paid attention to the solution of problems of IDPs

The conference was held by the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs for the 90th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, on “The policy of Azerbaijani people's national leader Heydar Aliyev on Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict: his care to refugees and IDPs, the presence of the government of Azerbaijan and international humanitarian organizations in the solution of their social problems” in “Gulustan” Palace on April 26. The participants of the conference came to Honorary Alley and honoured the memory of our national leader, architect and founder of modern independent Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, laid wreath on his grave. The participants of the conference also honoured the memory of the great ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, laid fresh flowers on her grave. State and government officials, deputies of Milli Majlis, the ambassadors of foreign countries accredited in Azerbaijan, the representatives of international organizations and community took part at the conference. Firstly, conference participants visited the exhibition, saw the stands reflecting the care and attention of the great leader Heydar Aliyev to refugees and IDPs, also the stands reflecting the life and work of academician Zarifa Aliyeva, got acquainted with the information and advertising materials prepared by the SCRDIDP. Then the film was presented about the care and attention of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. The Deputy Prime Minister, the chairman of the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov, opened the conference and spoke about the activities of Heydar Aliyev in the direction of strengthening of statehood, improving the social economic development and living conditions of refugees and IDPs. It was noted that, the great son of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev had always focused his attention on the solution of problems of refugees and IDPs. Ali Hasanov spoke about the activities of the National leader Heydar Aliyev and Ilham Aliyev for improvement of social conditions of refugees and IDPs. It was noted that as a result of the care and attention to this area, 78 modern settlements were established. Ali Hasanov mentioned that the national leader Heydar Aliyev was a great personality and one of the connoisseurs of academy of world politics and talked about life and activities of the Great leader. He emphasized that the great leader was also aware of all areas in our country, when he came to power. The National leader laid the foundation of rapidly growing Azerbaijan in 1970. The Great leader formed a solid foundation of political and economic spheres, kept constant attention on the training of national personnel and established military education basis. The Armenians couldn’t highlight the Nagorno Karabakh conflict for many years, because of Heydar Aliyev’s great authority, stated A.Hasanov and added that weakening of separatist movement in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan was also the result of purposeful activity of the national leader. The Great Leader established the international and national legal basis for the regulation of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflicts till 2003. It was noted that the President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the strategy founded by the national leader Heydar Aliyev. A.Hasanov said the new stage in the development of Azerbaijan has begun, education, culture, health and other spheres has developed since 2003 – the period when the President Ilham Aliyev came to power. It was underlined that Azerbaijan became the centre of international conferences. Ali Ahmadov, deputy chairman- executive secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party, MP emphasized that the anniversaries of the national leader Heydar Aliyev had always been celebrated with great solemnity by our people. Ali Ahmadov said the great changes have taken place in Azerbaijan in recent years and the country developed very rapidly. This change is based on the strategy founded by the great personality Heydar Aliyev and the President Ilham Aliyev successfully continuing the strategy. Speaking about the care and attention of Heydar Aliyev to refugees and IDPs, Bayram Safarov, the director of Public Union “Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno Karabakh region of Azerbaijan Republic”, the head of Shusha Region Executive Power stated that the National Leader had done great works to prevent provocations of Armenia against Azerbaijan even in the period of the Soviet Union. It was mentioned that refugees and IDPs lived in miserable conditions in the early 1990s. But the great steps were taken for improving the living conditions of refugees and IDPs after Heydar Aliyev came to power. Taking part in the conference, the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan Dag Sigurdsson stated that the organization represented by him had always supported by the government of Azerbaijan, benefited from high-level business relations for over 20 years. This cooperation built on the mutual respect indicates strong resolution and persistence. There was emphasized that as a result of the donor countries’ support more than 100 million US dollars were allocated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for the refugees and IDPs of Azerbaijan during 1993 – 2012. Far-sighted policy of the government in special attention to IDPs of Azerbaijan is obvious in comparison with other countries faced these problems. Dag Sigurdsson noted that Azerbaijan contributed to the annual budget of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees as the donor. He is confident that Azerbaijan will continue contributions to the improvement of living conditions of refugees and IDPs around the whole world thanks to its experience, international reputation and opportunities available.
