Opening of Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park and monument to National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Mexico City

On August 22, inauguration ceremony of Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park and monument to the National Leader of our people Heydar Aliyev was held in the central avenue of Mexico City – the capital of Mexico. Friendship Park with 1.7 ha area has thoroughly been reconstructed by the Government of Azerbaijan, capital construction work performed, greenery planted. The author of the monument to the great leader is People’s Artist, sculptor Natig Aliyev. The delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov, mayor of Mexico City Marcelo Ebrard and city community members took part in the ceremony. Participants of the event laid a wreath on the monument to National Leader Heydar Aliyev and commemorated him with respect. The Minister of Environment of Mexico Martha Delgado greeted the participants in the event and said opening of Azerbaijan Friendship Park and monument to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev was a significant event in the history of the city. The minister stressed that the park was located in the historical territory of Mexico City, in a single complex with various museums and other recreational centres. M.Delgado also mentioned that this place for recreation is a valuable contribution of the Government of Azerbaijan to Mexico City and expressed assurance that the park would become a recreational centre for city dwellers and tourists. The minister of Urban Development and Housing of Mexico Felipe Leal gave information about the reconstruction works performed in the park, modern lighting and irrigation systems installed in the park. The minister noted that Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park was an indicator of existing cooperation and friendship relations between the two countries and these relations were of great importance for the future development. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov made a speech at the event and conveyed the greetings of Azerbaijani people and the President Ilham Aliyev. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that creation of Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park in Mexico City and erecting monument to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev was a historical event for them. Ali Hasanov said allocation of place for this park in the centre of Mexico City was a very great initiative for friendship of our people and future cooperation, and expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the city. Then the Deputy Prime Minister gave information about the life and activities of the national leader of our people Heydar Aliyev. Bringing to attention that great leader was a world-famous political figure and statesman, Ali Hasanov mentioned the official visit of the USSR delegation led by Heydar Aliyev to Mexico and the meetings held in 1982. Ali Hasanov talked about the relations developing between Azerbaijan and Mexico in various fields and emphasized his assurance for further expansion of bilateral relations. The mayor Marcelo Ebrard, making a speech at the end of the event, said he considered honour for himself to receive the delegation of Azerbaijan in Mexico City. Marcelo Ebrard mentioned that the territory of location of Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park was a significant historical part of the city. He mentioned that this recreational place connected with the name of Azerbaijan was more magnificent than other parks and avenues of the city. The park would be one of the favourite recreational places for dwellers and guests of Mexico City. The mayor of the city thanked to the Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov and the delegation led by him, also said he hoped for further expansion of relations between the countries. The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov, MP Ayaz Orujov, chairman of Mexican Deputies Chamber Oscar Arse, government officials and members of Congress of Mexico, leaders of diplomatic representative offices accredited in this country, at the same time Russian, Georgian and Ukrainian Ambassadors, our countrymen living here, representatives of Turkish, Russian and Ukrainian communities were also present at the event. High-ranking diplomats, former members of the government and Congress met with national leader Heydar Aliyev within his visit Mexico shared their impressions on great leader. The ceremony dedicated to opening of Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park and monument to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev was widely reported by mass media of the country.
